The Barker & Associates Award 2007 26th November 2007
The Practice have donated a prize to Anglia Ruskin University - Faculty of Science & Technology since 1999. The "Special Award" 2007 was presented at the Graduation Ceremony on 22nd November for the best overall results for Whole Life Asset Management on the Building Surveying Course to: Robert Sadler.

National 10 man RICS Dilapidations Steering Group 16th July 2007
Our Associate, Keith Firn, based at our Loughton office has been invited onto this panel and will be tasked with developing and promoting best practice in Dilapidations within the profession. The Steering Group key tasks/roles are:- Representation of the Dilapidations Forum both within the RICS and to the Public; Setting Forum Strategy; Setting RICS Member Standards of services; Developing Forum Members through Life Long Learning events and training; Promoting Members’ Services; Developing the Profession and the Role of Surveyors in Dilapidations.

Historic Building Show 4th July 2007
In late June 2007, Barker & Associates participated in an Exhibition/Trade show for historic buildings. The exhibition was held in the Barley Barn at Cressing Temple, one of the oldest ranges of timber framed buildings in the country. The stand was organised by Robert Gould and manned by Robert, Chris Barker, Geoff Chapman, Malcolm Bradley, James Wilson and Tom Clark.

Chartered Status MRICS 6th June 2007
The Practice would like to congratulate Chris Risbrough, James Johnson & Joanna Smith who have all successfully completed their APC.

The Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors 4th June 2007
The Practice is pleased to announce that Geoffrey Chapman, a Partner based at our Manuden office, has been accepted as a "Member" of FPWS and now has the title of "Coporate Party Wall Surveyor". In addition last September Keith Firn, an Associate based at our Loughton Office, was also accepted as a "Member" of FPWS.

Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme 7th January 2007
We are pleased to confirm that Barker & Associates have undertaken an annual assessment of our Health & Safety procedures with CHAS and can confirm that we are accredited as a Designer under the CDM Regulations, having demonstrated an acceptable level of competence - valid until 22nd November 2008.

Survey Department Prize Draw 2nd January 2007
Following the completion of our "Full Building Survey Feedback Questionnaire" we are pleased to confirm that Sandy Macfie & Claire Mallord who reside in Bishops Stortford are the lucky winners of a bottle of champagne.

Three Peaks Challenge 4th August 2005
A team of six Chartered Surveyors undertook the Three Peaks Challenge which involves climbing Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scafell Pike (England) and Snowdon (Wales) a distance walked of approximately 25 miles. The team were driven between each mountain and despite poor weather conditions they completed their task within 28 hours! Barker & Associates raised £4,500 in aid of the "Donna Louise Trust".
