Brief Company History
Chris Barker set up in Practice as Barker & Associates in August 1987, after 17 years of Local Authority and other Government experience and 13 years of post qualification experience.

Geoff Chapman joined Chris Barker in 1988, with experience from the Local Authority and private sector.

The Practice grew rapidly over the next 3 years culminating in a move to much larger premises in Manuden in 1990.

Barker & Associates continued to expand and take on additional professional and other technical and advisory staff as required. With a growing client base the Practice extended its expertise in many directions.

The Practice now has a complement of 15 professional staff together with 7 graduates, 5 trainees and technicians, a Health & Safety Manager and 11 administrative support.

Barker & Associates provides a complete range of property related services to Local Authority, commercial clients and private individuals.

The Practice is listed by “Building” magazine within the Top 100 UK Building Surveyors and within the Top 200 Consultants.
