	BRIEF – To provide 2 no. Reception Classbases to form an early years unit adjacent to the existing detached nursery building.
	DATE COMPLETED – September 2006
	GROSS FLOOR AREA - 195 m2
	BUILD COST - £ 430,000
	DETAILS – The two new classbases were designed as a linked extension to the existing nursery classbase. The existing building was an uninteresting flat roofed “box” and an early decision was made to provide a modern contrasting design but with a degree of visual link to the existing. A shallow mono pitch roof was selected to sit comfortably beside the existing flat roof and a glulam timber frame structure adopted to promote sustainability issues. A new ramp/bridge was constructed to provide separate access from the school entrance to the new unit.
