The project is to construct a new 18 classroom, 3 storey general teaching building to replace the current 1970’s general teaching building which has reached the end of its viable life. The new building is part of a wider campus renewal programme and includes a significant landscaping scheme to form a new courtyard and amphitheatre. The building has generous circulation spaces which provide informal social and learning opportunities, and classrooms arranged to take advantage of the views towards the courtyard on one side, and a tree covered hillside and lake on the other. All spaces are naturally ventilated and lit, with wind catchers providing controlled ventilation to classrooms. Barker are leading the design team and working closely with the school to develop this important project which received planning permission in January 2017.
