20th April 2020
The Confederation of Schools Trusts (CST) has been advocating hard on behalf of school trusts and is offering guidance and advice on operational issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Some key items are highlighted below.
GCSE and A-level results days
The Secretary of State, has confirmed that this year’s GCSE students will get their results on Thursday 20 August, while those who are awaiting A level results will get theirs on Thursday 13August. These dates are the same as those published at the start of this academic year and should provide further clarity for all young people and their parents who are expecting to receive their results this summer. You can find more information on how GCSE and A Levels will be impacted by the closure of education settings in the previously published guidance.
The DfE has published on updated guidance on school closures.
Free School Meals (Edenred)
There have been significant issues with the FSM Voucher scheme and the DfE has been working hard with Edenred to resolve them.
All schools should have received an email from Edenred on 14th April about simplifying future order processes.
You can use the exceptional costs funding if you are providing free meals to children for whom “the national voucher scheme is inappropriate” – this includes those schools and trusts who are having difficulties accessing the national voucher scheme. However, please note the clause on reserves and the funding limits.
