Barker Associates were appointed to address ongoing drainage issues on the school’s playing field. The playing field had been severely damaged as a result posing a health and safety hazard to pupils and making it unsuitable for sport and play. Working closely with the school Barker Associates presented a strong case to the client to the install a new Multi-Use-Games-Area (MUGA) Pitch, associated land stabilisation and drainage works.

Funding was secured by Barker Associates through the LCVAP process following a successful planning application for the project. The scope of works involved over-site clearance, landscaping and cultivation works including the installation of new soakaway drainage, installation of a 1.7m high gabion wall and a new 3G MUGA Pitch designed to FA technical standards.

Barker Associates were responsible for RIBA (Plan of Works 2013) Stages 0–6. The works were procured on a Design & Build basis and completed on a 11 week construction programme. The new all-weather pitch is a great addition to the school providing an all-year round sports surface as well as a secure play area for the children at break time, it is a tremendous addition to the school and the children love it.
