National Apprenticeship Week is a chance to celebrate the talented apprentices who contribute to our business and the support we provide to help them grow.
At Barker, we believe in more than offering apprenticeships; we offer long-term career pathways. Our apprentices follow structured development programmes in partnership with universities across the country, ensuring their progress is regularly reviewed and supported.
Apprenticeships allow individuals to earn while they learn, gain hands-on industry experience, apply academic learning to real projects, and build valuable professional networks.
Before joining Barkers, prospective apprentices can access work experience to help them understand the industry and make informed decisions about their future, especially as apprenticeship programmes typically span five to six years.
Once onboard, each apprentice is paired with a dedicated internal mentor who provides guidance, regular feedback, and day-to-day support. We also carry out biannual internal reviews to ensure apprentices feel confident and supported throughout their journey. Recognising that starting a career early can be challenging, we offer wellbeing resources and a positive, supportive work environment.
Our apprentices contribute to meaningful projects from the start, gaining practical skills that prepare them for long-term success. And our support doesn’t end at graduation; we continue to guide apprentices through chartership, with help from experienced colleagues who have completed the process themselves.
We’re proud to champion apprenticeship routes in 2026 and beyond. If you’re considering an apprenticeship, or know someone who is, Barker Associates is committed to providing the training, support, and opportunities needed to build a successful and rewarding career.
Our experience and vision have shaped hundreds of projects across sectors, from energy and funding to architecture and design, helping bring ideas to life.
