Extension and refurbishment of a redundant police station to provide new state-of-the-art treatment facilities for this established veterinary practice.
Mercer and Hughes are a successful independent veterinary practice. As part of their expansion, Barker were appointed to provide Architectural, Project Management and Quantity Surveying services for their new practice in Bocking, Essex.
Barker worked closely with the client to fully understand their design and functional requirements including advanced medical services.
The result is a large and bright reception area, leading to two consultation rooms. These lead on to a back of house pharmacy and preparation room. Further facilities included an operating theatre, x-ray room, laundry, dog and cat kennels and office areas.
Our architects added value to the scheme with the incorporation of a first floor one bedroom apartment utilising space which could not be used as part of the surgery.
Barker project managed the scheme from inception to completion.
Barker's architects gave us very good guidance from developing the initial concept, working within our budget to selecting and dealing with the building contractors. The team was always available, extremely helpful and we never felt alone as they guided us through the process. We were very pleased with Barker and found them extremely professional at every level.
