The reinstatement of an important Grade II listed Essex timber-framed house following a serious fire. Barker Associates provided early stage advice on building safety and disaster recovery. This was followed by sensitive architecture and design input and building conservation advice to specify the reinstatement works. Barker Associates provided full project management throughout, liaising with the property owner, insurance company, loss adjuster and contractor to ensure a successful project. Careful consideration was given to the repair and restoration of the building’s ornate timber panelling and other historic features. A careful balance had to be struck between respecting the historic building whilst implementing current building regulations and standards.
"Thank you for your foresight in this project and ensuring it was finished to such a high standard."
