EdCity Office is an education campus and development in White City, London.
Born from a partnership between the national education charity Ark Schools and Hammersmith & Fulham Council, the office was created to bring together schools and organisations focused on innovation in education.
Following the successful delivery of the Level 3 fit-out for another tenant within the building, Barker was appointed to deliver a full fit-out of Level 4.
This involved creating nine office suites alongside shared collaborative and communal areas, designed to support a range of future tenants and provide a flexible, high-quality working environment.
The design was developed to match the established look and feel of the other floors within the building for a cohesive and consistent experience throughout.
Barker worked alongside Mitre Construction. The key challenge here was to create a series of individual office spaces suitable for a range of tenants, balancing the need for neutral, flexible environments with the specific requirements of secured tenants.
This involved close coordination with both the landlord and incoming tenants to ensure their operational needs were met, while designing the remaining suites to be adaptable and attractive to future occupants.
Barker’s prior experience on Level 3 helped streamline coordination and delivery.
The project delivered a range of high-quality, functional office spaces that met the needs of both the landlord and incoming tenants. Confirmed occupants expressed strong satisfaction with their new workspaces.
The neutral yet well-considered design ensures the remaining suites are readily marketable and adaptable for future tenants.
The communal areas provide flexible environments, and the inclusion of acoustic meeting pods enables private working.
Overall, the fit-out enhanced the usability, appeal, and commercial value of the floor, contributing to a cohesive and desirable workplace environment.
“The project successfully delivered a flexible and well balanced workspace, with nine individual tenant offices supported by shared meeting rooms and a communal kitchenette. The design aligns with the existing floors, creating a cohesive building identity, while offering tenants the freedom to incorporate their own branding within a high quality, neutral framework.”
