Hoffmanns Way- Office Refurbishment & Alterations

  • Client: Essex Community Foundation
  • Value: £600,000
  • Location: Chelmsford, Essex
  • Sector: Commercial
  • Services: Project Management and Quantity Surveying

Overview

Essex Community Foundation were looking to relocate from existing offices where they had been for 17 years. The new property required significant refurbishment and alterations to meet their accommodation needs. Barker worked with ECF to oversee the design brief, manage contractor procurement, appointment and project delivery through to completion of their new ‘home’.

The Brief

Working with the client and architect team we established a deep understanding of the client requirements, recognising the need for quality whilst maintaining cost effectiveness. The delivery programme was critical with ECF needing to move from existing accommodation by a set date.

The Solution

By working collaboratively with the Client, contractor and wider project team we were able to ensure that the project was delivered both on budget and programme. Barker were able to inform the project team on cost and programme implications through design development ensuring the final designs were achievable and affordable and avoided the need for later amendment.

The Outcome

Essex Community Foundation now has a larger, bespoke, multi-use building from where they are able to continue supporting their local community. Their new offices incorporate a reception area, meeting rooms, presentation suite, kitchen and dining areas. The space offers a contemporary plan that caters to staff mixing, discussions and hybrid working whilst also taking into consideration increased occupancy and flexibility to adapt to the Foundation’s future needs. Feedback from building users has been very positive from both staff and visitors alike.
