Overview
The expansion project required a new building, together with internal remodelling works to support a one form entry expansion and increased pupil numbers.
The Solution
The extension wraps around the corner of an existing teaching block to generate a courtyard. This provides an opportunity to create vibrant outdoor social spaces in a previously underused corner of the site.
Carefully nestled within extensive mature landscaping, the design is contemporary and embraces the principles of sustainable design employing a green roof, mixed mode ventilation strategy, high thermal mass and precisely engineered daylighting provision.
The Outcome
Our team was successfully able to create five classrooms and a central learning hub incorporating a new library, sixth form centre, gender-neutral toilets and a wash area.
