  • Client: Inclusive Multi-Academy Trust
  • Location: Watford
  • Sector: Education
  • Services: Surveying & Asset Management, Funding, Project Management

OVERVIEW

Inclusive Multi-Academy Trust is a small, ambitious trust based in Watford, currently with three primary schools. Barker have been working with Inclusive Multi-Academy Trust since 2022, mainly assisting with CIF bid writing for various projects, successfully obtaining funding for fire safety, heating renewal and electrical refurbishment.

THE BRIEF

Barker were selected for their extensive knowledge and experience with the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF), having a proven track record of securing successful bids. The school needed to address D1-related condition issues linked to a hazardous electrical system that required urgent attention. Various reports and statutory documents had highlighted significant electrical defects, with the school’s 50-year-old electrical infrastructure being outdated and non-compliant. These deficiencies posed serious safety risks in daily operations, making it essential to secure funding for a full electrical upgrade to ensure compliance and a safe learning environment.

THE OUTCOME

Barker worked with the school to compile and submit a strong, and evidence-based CIF bid which was successful. The school was successfully granted £723k of funding towards delivery of the project. Barker worked with the school to address condition defects relating to the D1 condition rated electrical system, including new L.E.D lighting and new suspended ceilings within a live school. The electrical upgrades drastically improved the energy consumption of the school. The works were undertaken during half term breaks and evenings to complete the electrical rewire within the 20-week construction programme.

Would highly recommend. “
