MAT Capital Loans Pilot Scheme - LED Replacement & PV Installation Project

  • Value: £2.8m
  • Location: Various
  • Sector: Education, Community and Leisure
  • Service: Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Sustainability, Building Surveying, Education Surveys

Barker obtained £2.8m funding via a bidding process with the ESFA through Multi Academy Trust Capital Loans Pilot Scheme to replace all existing light fittings with LED units and to provide and install PV Panels where possible.

Barker provided Project Management and Supervisor role under NEC3 to administer the contract through initial procurement process, interviews, selection of successful contract supplier and placement of contracts. Post-contract our involvement included project management of works, including instructions, early warning notices and compensation events. Supervisor role included inspecting installations to provide confirmation of quality and conformance with the specification and management of the snagging process.

The Pilot Scheme saw over 15,000 fittings replaced with a substantial amount of the works undertaken during the holiday periods.

The PV Panels which will have the capacity to generate over 700,000 kwh of electricity per annum for the next 25 years will save the Trusts over £2 million after the loan has been repaid.
