Barker obtained £2.8m funding via a bidding process with the ESFA through Multi Academy Trust Capital Loans Pilot Scheme to replace all existing light fittings with LED units and to provide and install PV Panels where possible.
Barker provided Project Management and Supervisor role under NEC3 to administer the contract through initial procurement process, interviews, selection of successful contract supplier and placement of contracts. Post-contract our involvement included project management of works, including instructions, early warning notices and compensation events. Supervisor role included inspecting installations to provide confirmation of quality and conformance with the specification and management of the snagging process.
The Pilot Scheme saw over 15,000 fittings replaced with a substantial amount of the works undertaken during the holiday periods.
The PV Panels which will have the capacity to generate over 700,000 kwh of electricity per annum for the next 25 years will save the Trusts over £2 million after the loan has been repaid.
In September 2020 the UK Government announced the £1bn PSDS funding for energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects to be administered by Salix Finance. In response, over 50 of our clients requested support in surveys to gathering asset data across their estates to support grant fund applications.
This resulted in the rapid mobilisation of a large team of building surveyors and engineers to inspect our client’s sites, capturing asset data on plant, building fabric etc.
The survey programme needed to be completed in a 3-month period to meet timelines for applications. The Barker Team successfully completed over 370 audits in less than three months.
Following completion of the data capture, the team then used our EO Portal data analytics to support the financial modelling to support capital bids for projects such as PV Panels, LED lighting. Of those we put forward, a staggering 131 projects were approved. With funding secured, the Barker team have mobilised projects on various sites with the view to delivering them by March 2022 deadline.
"With Barker's assistance, we were able to secure funds from the LCSF round to put together Energy Assessments for some of our schools, and amazingly, secure over £3million worth of funding with the PSDS round (10% of the overall Multi Academy Trust award) for various carbon reduction schemes; LED lighting installation, solar panel installation, hand dryer installations, and some smaller TRV and insulation works. Barker have been great through the whole process, assisting with the initial skills fund award, the bids, monitoring paperwork as well as project tenders, set up, and completion.
