The Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust envisions the growth of thriving learning communities centred on Christian values and service, fostering a passion for learning among young people. Since its start in 2018, pupil intake at St Peter’s Primary School has tripled and the numbers continue to grow. Following the construction of St Peter’s Primary School, a second phase of expansion was necessary to extend the school to cater to the increased demand.
The Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust (DSAT) required professional services to complete the extension at St Peter’s Primary School. Barker provided multidisciplinary expertise, ensuring the project aligned with DSAT’s vision and met their specific needs. Through careful planning and execution, Barker successfully delivered a high-quality extension that supports the school’s growth and enhances its learning environment
The challenge was to deliver the project within a very tight schedule to accommodate new students starting at the school in September 2024. This required meticulous planning, efficient resource management, and seamless coordination among all parties involved to ensure the facilities were ready on time without compromising quality.
The project resulted in a single-story extension designed to match the original building’s appearance. The extension accommodates four general teaching classrooms with associated storage areas and a radio room for student use. The project was completed on schedule and within budget, which allowed for the redesign of existing parking areas to include additional spaces and the creation of a new external amphitheatre for outdoor teaching.
“Barker have been instrumental in the delivery of this project. Every unforeseen issue and hiccup in the project was dealt with quickly and efficiency. Barker has a range of knowledge which is clear from the number of specialists they have been able to bring to the project during its implementation. The Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust have deeply enjoyed this journey and would happily embark on another with Barker in the future.”
